The acronym stands for Five Agent Scheduling Technique. It is a term inspired by artificial intelligence where certain decisions are made by “Agents”, each with the responsibility for solving a particular sub-problem. Research has shown that virtually all logic-based solution strategies for scheduling problems can be decomposed into five interconnected sub-problems. Unique Scheduling Solutions uses a proprietary set of rules to represent the “Agents” that solve each of the sub-problems, hence the term Five Agent Scheduling Technique, or “FAST”.
